The ultimate transformation stone
Quartzite is a stunning material with the strength and resistance of granite but the elegance of marble. A first-rate choice for countertops, flooring, wall applications, etc.
Things to consider when selecting your quartzite:
- Veins and fissures are naturally occurring to quartzite and not considered “defects.”
- Consider the slab size and direction of veining when selecting for your project.
- Due to the hardness and density of quartzite, fabrication times may be extended
- Quartzite leans toward high-to-exotic budgets.
Quartzite is a metamorphic rock composed of mainly quartz that has recrystallized, typically from sandstone or chert, under extreme heat and pressure until traces of its original structure are gone. Quartzite is extremely hard and elegant, making it an excellent choice for many different surfaces.
Advantages: Has a similar appearance to marble but higher scratch, stain, and heat resistance
Awareness: tends to be extremely expensive; can be brittle and difficult in fabrication
